Religion: A mental disorder?

Yesterday I questioned whether liberalism is a mental disorder, and made the claim that it’s obtuse and extremely facetious, but I shall today judge religion by its own standards. God is a delusion and man created the ideas of gods to control the common man, as it’s a useful weapon for the powerful, and the leaders. The Abrahamic religions especially fear their god, and the threat of facing him and not receiving their desired judgement, and through this fear they claim unequalled love for their god, where they put their faith before their own families. A delusion used to be referred to as being fooled, and this is still appropriate, but it’s more commonly known as an idiosyncratic belief or impression maintained despite being contradicted by reality or rational argument, typically as a symptom of mental disorder, according to Oxford dictionary. Religion is very much contradicted by reality, and rationality, as it takes a very ignorant person to ignore the evidence of known science; ie evolution, and claim that god created everything.

“The way to see by Faith is to shut the Eye of Reason.” – Benjamin Franklin

Is there a difference between religious fervour and mental disorders? Anything that can affect your judgement to make logical decisions is a mental disorder, and people believing that they speak to god, and he speaks back at them is not thinking like a normal person. The American Psychological Association claimed that after doing a five year study that extreme religious behaviour hindered one’s ability to make conscientious decisions about common sense matters. If one claims to have a voice inside their head advising them of what to do, more often than not they are diagnosed as being a sufferer of schizophrenia, which is a form of psychosis, but when a theist claims to be engaging with god, or Jesus, this is perfectly acceptable in society. Take prayer as another example of an unhealthy form of delusion. Does prayer achieve anything, other than making a person look like they’re having a conversation with themselves, and has prayer ever been proven to be effective and give desired results?

“When one person suffers from a delusion, it is called insanity. When many people suffer from a delusion it is called a Religion.” – Robert M. Pirsig

When people become fundamentalists regarding their religion, it’s a fine line between being obsessive about their faith, and needing to receive mental health care. Religion is about compliance, and religious leaders don’t wish for people to have their own unique individuality, as they want people who wish to obey, and people that are fearful of questioning the will of god. What better way than to control a society through the fear of a god that can become malevolent if you don’t do as he bids. Many Christians argue that their god is in opposition to evil, but if the flood mythology is anything to go by, he’s perfectly capable of mass genocide if he’s unhappy. You’ve got to have some form of psychosis to believe that it’s perfectly acceptable for god to wipe out the majority of life on Earth, just because he’s god, and he can give and take away as he pleases. You’ve also got to suffer from a mental instability to believe that god sent his own son, who’s really him in human form, to die for the sins of humanity.

“Religious fanatics want people to switch off their own minds, ignore the evidence, and blindly follow a holy book based upon private ‘revelation’. – Richard Dawkins

Sigmund Freud described religion as a childlike neurosis, and suggested that it was unhealthy for the mind as it forced you to believe in what isn’t true. But if it makes a person happy, then who are we to judge? The issue here for me is that religious people are unable to keep their beliefs and condemnations to themselves, and have a habit of preaching to people who don’t share their views, and this is what creates the problems, as religion is about a personal relationship with a god, and it should not be forced upon people. Yet society is polluted by religion almost everywhere you go, and just because the majority of people on the planet have some firm of faith, it doesn’t mean that they are correct. Mark Twain once said that when you find yourself on the side of the majority, it’s time you took a step back and reflected. Whilst religion can offer comfort, and social circles which surround the church, or it can give someone a positive outlook on life, it’s still founded on deception, as none of it can ever be proven to be true. Especially for an extremely sceptical person like myself, who’s got to 46 years old without once ever experiencing a supernatural event, and if I’ve ever told a religious fanatic this, they often say that you must seek god, as he won’t seek you. Is this not just a little too convenient to be taken seriously?

Liberalism: A mental disorder?

‪I will start off by saying that anyone who makes this claim is without a doubt ignorant, extremely facetious, and obtuse. A mental disorder is a psychiatric condition that causes impairment, or affects a person’s judgement, behaviour or perception, and it can range from an isolated incident, to a serious condition that can cause distress, and the need to seek a psychiatrist which can lead to mind altering medication. Being so flippant about something so serious is showing complete disregard for the welfare of people who are genuinely ill. It makes my skin crawl when I read the five words ‘Liberalism is a mental disorder’, or the extremely vile alternative ‘libtard’. It’s often White supremacist, homophobic, right wing Christians who have an obsession with the first and second amendment that use this phrase, as they’re clearly unable to accept people being allowed to express their individuality. ‬

La Liberté éclairant le monde

‪”Humanism split into three main branches. The orthodox branch holds that each human being is a unique individual possessing a distinctive inner voice and a never-to-be-repeated string of experiences. Every human being is a singular ray of light, which illuminates the world from a different perspective, and which adds colour, depth and meaning to the universe. Hence we ought to give as much freedom as possible to every individual to experience the world, follow his or her inner voice and express his or her inner truth. Whether in politics, economics or art, individual free will should have far more weight than state interests or religious doctrines. The more liberty individuals enjoy, the more beautiful, rich and meaningful is the world. Due to this emphasis on liberty, the orthodox branch of humanism is known as liberal humanism” – Yuval Noah Harari‬

‪A libtard is obviously a condescending, derogatory mixture of liberal and retard, and is often directed at left wing people, who demand equality, justice, freedom of choice, reform and social progression, whereas right wing are usually traditionalists, nationalists, over patriotic, and needy of a moral authority giver, usually god. Despite the god worshippers claiming their moral superiority, they’re unable to accept liberalism, which is a moral philosophy with its emphasis on equality; be it social, human, sexual or gender. They demand democracy, and secularism. This strikes fear into the hearts of the right wing bigots, as they feel like it’s an attempt by atheists to remove god from society, but liberalism also agrees with freedom of religion, but just as important is freedom from religion, and it shouldn’t be involved in politics, or influence the government. ‬

‪With the right wing bigots being traditionalists, this means that they believe that a man should marry a woman, start a family, attend the church regularly, and the man provides, and the woman is the homemaker. This view is so archaic and out of touch with the reality of the modern world, as it’s 2020, not 1820. Liberals focus on both gender equality and racial equality, and if the right wing were truly patriotic, they’d remember that in the ‘Declaration of Independence‘ it says that “all men are created equal”, so liberalism shouldn’t need to exist. But unfortunately it’s not that simple, as the Bible is far more important, and because it allegedly condemns homosexuality.‬

‪”If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.” Leviticus 20:13‬

‪Liberalism is a doctrine that attempts to protect and enhance the freedom, and rights of all humans, which acknowledges a person’s individuality, be it sexual orientation, religion, race, nationality, and ‘Plato‘ said that society should be organic, and work like a beehive, with everyone doing their necessary duty to create harmony and an equilibrium. Liberals are also keen on reform and progression, and the means to reach this is dialogue, and communication. As the saying goes, the pen is mightier than the sword. In the case of liberalism being a mental disorder, the sword is completely wrong. ‬

‪”Of all the varieties of virtues, liberalism is the most beloved” – Aristotle‬

A retrospective: Donald Trump

Since becoming the 45th President of the United States of America, Donald Trump has become one of the most infamous political figures in history. As the world watches his legacy unfold, the god fearing, gun supporting Christian majority, MAGA Republicans, believe him to be of legendary status, whilst everyone else is bewildered as to how he became the commander-in-chief of one of the most powerful nations in the world, and a resident at the Oval Office of the White House. How has such a controversial figure managed to split America down the middle, and be loved by so many for his disingenuous public displays of egotistical arrogance, and childlike tantrums. Many people were critical of Obama’s policies and claimed that Trump has done more for America in four years than Obama did in eight, but as a political figure, Trump significantly lacks the dignity, and the humbleness of Obama, and he’s a puppet on a string for the Republican Party.

‪It’s really cold outside, they are calling it a major freeze, weeks ahead of normal. Man, we could use a big fat dose of global warming!” – Donald Trump‬

Donald John Trump‘ was born in 1948, in the borough of Queens, New York City, and was the son of the real estate developer ‘Fred Trump‘, who was the son of German immigrants. He was raised as a Presbyterianism because of his mother’s faith, and he claimed in 2015 that he regularly attends Marble Collegiate Church in New York, but the church countered this by claiming he isn’t active, so another lie, and yet he still wins the November 2016 presidential election. The apple certainly didn’t fall far from the tree where Donald and Fred are concerned, and both have been surrounded by accusations of corruption regarding their business models.

“In 1954 Fred was investigated by the Senate Banking Committee for allegedly abusing the loan-guarantee program by deliberately overestimating the costs of his construction projects to secure larger loans from commercial banks, enabling him to keep the difference between the loan amounts and his actual construction costs. – Source

Although he was never officially charged with any crime, it tarnished his reputation, and his conscience got the better of him, and he returned $1.2,000,000. After the accusations, which he admitted to pocketing over $3,000,000 for his own commercial projects, he was denied access to further state loans. In 1974, Donald became president of his father’s empire which he renamed the ‘Trump Organisation‘. Before this happened, both Fred and Donald were accused of racial discrimination towards African Americans who lived at Trump owned housing developments, and they were sued by the Department of Justice. The Trumps immediately countersued as their reputation had been tarnished, and the settlement meant the Trumps never had to admit guilt. Does this mean that Fred genuinely was a member of the Ku Klux Klan, as after all, he was one of seven arrested at a rally in 1927 due to rioting?

‪Sorry losers and haters, but my IQ is one of the highest – and you all know it! Please don’t feel so stupid or insecure, it’s not your fault.” – Donald Trump‬

After taking over his father’s company, Donald expanded it greatly by buying and building hotels, casinos and golf complexes. By 1990 his self estimation of his fortune was around $1.5,000,000,000. Trump has been repeatedly asked to present his tax returns since taking the role of United States President, but he constantly ignores the request. It’s almost like he has something to hide. Throughout his career as a real estate mogul he’s been in the firing line with accusations of racism, misogyny, fraud, false advertising, tax evasion, and breach of contract, but being filthy rich, he can afford the best lawyers who somehow always manage to get deals where he’s held unaccountable. Between 1991 and 2009, the Trump Organisation has filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy no less than six times, which left him with banks refusing to bail him out of trouble, all except the Deutsch bank.

“In fall 2019, after Trump admitted to misusing money raised by his foundation to promote his presidential campaign and settle debts, he was ordered to pay $2,000,000 in damages” – Source

Regarding his presidential campaign, is he truly a Republican, as his political affiliation seems inconsistent, and he’s been a Democrat and the independent Reform party, before rejoining the Republican Party in 2009. He’s since been advised to sell off his business ventures as he’s been accused of violating the Foreign Emoluments Clause, in which it’s unethical to receive funds from foreign governments as it can lead to influence, yet several key governments who are responsible for human rights violations have invested in the Trump organisation. When Trump was in the reform party he was in the running for the presidential race, but after polls claimed that with him running against ‘George W. Bush‘, he had no chance whatsoever as barely anyone supported him, and he dropped out to save himself from future embarrassment. So how was he so successful in November 2016, and what changed? Surely it wasn’t his public persona on the Apprentice that brought him further into the public eye? It’s common knowledge that during his campaign he was accused of pandering to the white supremacists to gain votes, and he had huge support from the Ku Klux Klan as they believed he was prepared to take the country back from immigration and foreign nationals.

You know, I’m automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything….Grab them by the pussy. You can do anything.” – Donald Trump

Many of the MAGA crowd, despite claiming to be deeply religious, have far right views on immigration, national patriotism and homosexuality. Trump has been under intense scrutiny since 2016 for a long list of accusations by the Justice Department, with over 20 separate investigations surrounding every area of his presidency, and his business ventures. He’s allegedly paid out many millions of dollars to keep people quiet about incidents he’s supposedly been involved in, most notably having an affair with a porn star, and presidential campaign influence from Russia.

In December 2019 two articles of impeachment were brought to the House of Representatives, and if the Senate reached 2/3rds majority in favour of removing Trump from office, then the Democrats accusation of obstructing Congress would be valid, with ‘Mike Pence‘ automatically becoming President. The trial failed, and was always going to fail, as the Republican Party had the most seats. Out of 44 Presidents, this is only the 3rd time one has faced impeachment, and they include ‘Andrew Johnson‘, ‘Bill Clinton‘ and ‘Donald Trump‘. ‘Richard Nixon‘ was facing impeachment but he resigned before it was set in motion, and as of yet, no American President has been removed from office, but if Trump wins the 2020 election in November, then he’s got another four years to ruin his career once and for all.

If you had any doubt that Donald Trump is an imbecile, then the above video confirms it. The man can barely string a coherent sentence together.
